Dana Smith’s primary training goal is that everyone she trains leaves feeling empowered, knowing that they now have the skills necessary to do their jobs. Her secret is tailoring each training session to optimize individual and group strengths. A class is made up of individuals, each coming to the table with a unique skill set and specific need for their job, making tailored training key. After 18 years as a trainer and Director of Training at a leading public school system, Dana has trained everyone from the Superintendent of Schools to the Cafeteria Ladies. She is an engaging presenter, known for her relaxed and empowering teaching style.
Dana’s background is as a technology trainer. She began her professional development career teaching teachers how to teach with computers, and moved to training employees to use complex technical business systems within the school district. She understands how challenging it can be for individuals to adopt new ways of thinking and having their jobs change as the result of the introduction of new systems. Dana has led Change Management teams that map out how to implement those changes across school district levels, ensuring thousands of users with unique system needs were taken care of during the transition.
Dana is currently a training and technology management consultant. Her work focuses on designing training programs, developing self-paced and facilitated online courses, creating print and video screencast training materials, change management, and performance consulting.
